Lawrenceville man killed in weekend hit-and-run

A Lawrenceville motorcyclist was killed Saturday as he tried to avoid striking an SUV that was making a U-turn in front of him

Thw Gwinnett County Police Accident Invesitgation Unit has determined Michael Turner, 27, was traveling westbound on Stone Mountain Parkway around 5 p.m. when an SUV attempted a U-turn near the intersection of Parkwood Road. Investigators said Turner apparently tried to avoid striking the SUV, so he swerved, losing control of his bike and then hitting a tree.

Witness told investigators the driver of the SUV stopped and got out of his vehicle and approached the scene of the crash. He then got back into the vehicle and left. 

Turner died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident.

Investigators are searching for the SUV driver, described as a 30-40 year old light-skinned, black man with short black hair. He is approximately 5'10" and weighs between 170 and 190 lbs.
