FLOWERY BRANCH — Nikki Harris struck out 17 in leading Flowery Branch to a huge 3-0 win over North Oconee on Wednesday in Region 8-4A action at the Hog Mountain Sports Complex.

With the win the Lady Falcons (11-4, 7-3 Region 8-4A) jumped both North Oconee and idle Madison County to move into first place in the region standings. It also was their fourth consecutive win.

Harris went the distance, scattering four hits and walking just two. The Lady Titans’ Maddie Johnson also went the distance, surrendering five hits and fanning six.

Flowery Branch got going quickly scoring on a fielder’s choice from Savanna Rutledge, who later Rutledge scored on a throwing error by the Lady Titans. Harris went to work from there and the Lady Falcons added a run in the sixth on a RBI double from Zoe Hadaway.

North Oconee's best scoring chance came in the top of the fifth after loading the bases with one out. But Harris got a fielder’s choice to Rutledge, who came home for the second out, and Harris got a strikeout to end the inning.

Rutledge finished with two hits and scored twice. Casey Beaver and Avery Thomas each had one hit for Flowery Branch.
