A well-known gang member in Toccoa has been arrested after a six-month-long investigation. According to the press release from the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, Shaun Mayfield, 26, of Toccoa, had been under investigation for six months. He was on active probation at the time.
Mayfield is known to be a member of the Gangster Disciple Criminal Street Gang. Last Friday, a search of his home at 1520 Defoor Rd. in Toccoa found Mayfield in possession of almost $68,000 worth of drugs.
Mayfield was arrested when authorities found methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin, butane hash oil, ecstasy pills, and cocaine. They also seized an AR15 style rifle, a semiautomatic pistol, and a revolver. The street value of all drugs combined equaled $67,752.50. The largest amount of drugs found in the home was marijuana and methamphetamine. The 4,114 grams of marijuana found and 230 grams of methamphetamine made up over $64,000 of that amount.
He is being charged with the following:
- Theft by receiving, a stolen motorcycle
- 3 counts of a felon in possession of a firearm
- 3 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
- Trafficking methamphetamine
- Trafficking heroin
- Possession with intent to distribute Ecstasy
- Possession with intent to distribute butane hash oil
- Felony possession of marijuana
- Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
- Possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine
The investigation is still active and ongoing. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
The departments involved in the investigation include the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Toccoa Police Department, Department of Community and Supervision, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).
