A Gainesville-based psychologist has been charged with one count each of Medicaid Fraud and False Statements and could face up to 15 years in prison.

According to a press release from the Georgia Attorney General's Office, the office's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit indicted Dr. Guy Jordan, and the Hall County Grand Jury returned the indictment on Sept. 15.

Dr. Jordan primarily conducted diagnostic assessments of children and young teens, a key detail in the allegations.

The allegations claim Dr. Jordan backdated for therapy sessions that were not actually performed. He is accused of claiming that he had performed weekly sessions with Medicaid patients, but all of these sessions are alleged to have happened prior to the assessment date.

If convicted of both counts, Dr. Jordan faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
