JEFFERSON — Brice Rodgers.booted a 27-yard field with 2:39 left to lift Jackson County to a thrilling 20-19 win over Franklin County Friday night at Panthers Stadium.
It was the second field goal of the game for Rodgers, who also kicked a 39-yarder in the second quarter.
The Panthers (2-1) led 10-6 after Rodgers first field goal but fell behind 19-10 after the Lions returned an interception 70 yards for a score in the third quarter.
The Jackson County defense then shut down the Lions the rest of the way, including an interception seal the game, while the offense rallied in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers will open Region 8-5A play next week traveling to Walnut Grove.
