JEFFERSON — This one was never in question as Jefferson blew past Southside, SC 45-7 Friday night at Memorial Stadium
The Dragons (3-0) used 17 running backs to churn out 189 yards on the ground, but more impressively, the Dragon defense held the Tigers to just 13 total yards of offense -- negative 31 on the ground.
Reese Johnson led the rushing attack with 42 yards on four carries.
Sammy brown scored the Dragons' first two touchdowns to jumpstart the 42-point first quarter -- a 59-yard kickoff return to open the game and a 14 -yard run 50 seconds later to go up 14-0.
Malaki Starks added a 34-yards score. Johnson scored on a 23-yard run. Brown fell on Jamiar Houston's fumble in the end zone for a score and Isaiah Copeland added a two-yard touchdown run to push the game out of reach in the first quarter, 42-0.
Southside scored its lone touchdown with 7:30 to go in the fourth quarter when Houston fell on a fumble and returned it four yards for a touchdown.
Starks finished the night with 34 rushing yards and 35 passing. Brown turned 31 yards rushing.
