Volleyball: Bluff splits tri-match at home

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Cherokee Bluff volleyball team earned a split in a tri-match with a pair of higher-classification teams on Thursday at home.

The Class 3A Lady Bears (16-10) opened with a tough 28-26, 25-22 loss to Class 7A Forsyth Central. They then held off Class 6A Lanier 27-25, 25-16 in the nightcap.

Madie Levine had 2 aces, 4 digs and 12 assists to pace Cherokee Bluff. Abbi Hutchins added 3 aces, 13 digs and 5 assists, Emma Staples had 6 kills, 7 aces, 1 block and 5 digs, while GB Cornett had 7 kills, 1 ace, 5 blocks and 11 assists for the Lady Bears.

Sage Sutulovich had 11 kills, 1 block and 3 digs, Olivia Owens had 1 kill, 3 blocks and 1 dig, and Sierra Piland added 1 kill and 9 blocks for Cherokee Bluff.
