FLOWERY BRANCH — Talia Ragone drove in Kaitlyn Herren in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Cherokee Bluff to a key Region 7-3A win over White County on Wednesday at home in a battle for second place.
That capped rally from 3-0 down. Cherokee Bluff scored three runs in the fifth after the Lady Warriors had scored single runs in the first, third, and fifth.
The win for the Lady Bears (8-2, 5-1 Region 7-3A) put them just one-half game behind East Forsyth and one game ahead of White County (9-2, 4-2 Region 7-3A).
Kaitlyn Herren, Lauren Rule, and Mia Williams all had one hit for the Lady Bears.
JEFFERSON 12,
BANKS COUNTY 0 (4 inn)
Jefferson used a six-run first inning to jump on Oconee County early en route to a win in four inning on Wednesday.
The Lady Dragons improved to 5-4 on the season.
Taylor Spivey led a 15-hit Jefferson attack with three hits, two RBI, and scored three runs. Madison Hanchey, Savannah Smith, Emma Kate Sorrells, and Kinsie Pugh all had two hits and combined for six RBI as well. Ellie Kinlaw, Maleia Truelove, Audrey Burton, Avery Hays all had one hit for the Lady Dragons.
After the big first inning, Jefferson scored three in second, one in the third, and closed it out with two runs in the fourth.
Ravyn Saxon got the win scattering five hits and striking out two.
Jefferson next will travel to Cedar Shoals on Thursday in a Region 8-4A contest.
EAST HALL 12
BANKS COUNTY 0 (4 inn)
Maggie Banks tossed a no-hitter in the circle to lead the Lady Vikings to the win, also in four innings.
East Hall scored three in the first inning and added five in the third and four in fourth as Callie Dale, Ansley Ivey, Amari Burce, Alexis Burce, and Gracie Ausborn all drove in runs to invoke the Mercy Rule.
That was part of a 17-hit attack by the Lady Vikings. Lacei Bunte had three hits and Gracie Ausborn, Callie Dale, Brooke Hewell, Ansley Ivey, and Amari Burce all had two hits. Calli Hardison and Kaylana Curry each had one hit for East Hall.
