GAINESVILLE – Five members of the Gainesville Police Department were honored by the Gainesville City Council Tuesday evening for an outstanding year of public service.
Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish called each forward and presented each individual with a plaque recognizing the fact that they had been chosen by members of the Employee Recognition Committee for the unique honor.
Parrish told the city council, “I thought it was very important that we come before you to announce our officers of the year.”
The following awards were bestowed:
- Uniformed Patrol Officer of the Year – Anthony Barrera
- Detective of the Year – Terry Barnes
- Specialized Services Officer of the Year – Russell Clark
- Professional Staff Member of the Year – Kevin Foster
- Supervisor of the Year – Travis Barnette
Parrish then singled out Barrera as the overall Employee of the Year.
