One person was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for serious injuries following a fiery crash on Interstate 85 in Franklin County Tuesday morning.
According to information from the Georgia State Patrol, a CMV was headed south on the interstate in the emergency lane and failed to yield while merging into the right lane. A tractor-trailer was traveling south in the right lane, and it struck the CMV with its front.
After impact, the tractor-trailer went into the median and caught fire, according to troopers. Household chemicals caught fire but were contained at the scene.
The accident occurred around Mile Marker 170. At 9 a.m., one lane of the southbound side of I-85 was still blocked.
