Forsyth County man arrested after allegedly shooting, killing his father

A Forsyth County man is facing a felony murder charge after he allegedly shot his father several times Thursday afternoon at a home south of Cumming. 

According to a press release from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Rajeev Kumaraswamy, 25, had gotten into an argument with his father, Sadashivia Kumaraswamy, 49, at their home at 3905 Homestead Ridge Drive.

During the argument, Rajeev allegedly retrieved a gun from his room, then shot Sadashivia several times. Sadashivia died at the scene. Deputies first responded to the scene of the incident at 5:50 p.m.

Rajeev was arrested and is now facing one count of felony murder. He was being held in the Forsyth County Jail without bond as of Friday morning.

The Sheriff's Office had no prior contact or calls for service from the home prior to the incident.

A shooting in Forsyth County leaves one victim dead and another person in custody.

There are not many details this early into the investigation, but Forsyth County deputies announced on social media that a homicide had occurred in the Three Chimneys Farm Subdivision off Windermere Parkway. They closed off part of Homestead Ridge Drive to assist in the investigation. 

They did say there was no danger to the public and later confirmed a suspect was in custody.

Crime scene and major crimes investigators will continue to examine the scene.
