Former President Donald Trump says he will not endorse Sen. Butch Miller's bid for lieutenant governor of Georgia.

In a statement released Wednesday night, Trump said the Gainesville Republican refused to "work with other Republican Senators on voter fraud and irregularities in the State."

Miller, who launched his campaign for the lieutenant governor's post on May 25, made an appearance on The Martha Zoller Show on WDUN Thursday morning, and he said he believes Mr. Trump has received some bad information.

"I believe that he has been misinformed either intentionally or incidentally - and I think it's probably intentionally - by people who have their own motives," Miller said.

The former president did not indicate which candidate he might favor for the state's number two job.

"Hopefully, there will be strong and effective primary challengers for the very important Lieutenant Governor position!" Trump wrote in his statement.

The only other declared Republican candidate for Lt. Governor is Jeanne Seaver, a Savannah businesswoman and community activist. Political pundits believe Sen. Burt Jones of Jackson plans to enter the race, as well.

Just last week, Miller's campaign reported he had raised $2 million during his first weeks of campaigning. Miller said the financial support has come from all over the state.

"Everybody scoffed when I said I was going to raise a million dollars in 30 days. Literally, other politicians laughed about it," Miller said. "We raised $2 million in 30 days. No one - to my knowledge - no one in the state of Georgia has ever done that."

Miller was first elected in 2010 to represent District 49 in the State Senate. He has served as Senate President Pro-Tempore since 2018.
