The Banks County Sheriff's office is currently investigating a Wednesday morning armed robbery in Homer.

According to Major Carissa McFaddin, public information officer with the sheriff's office, the robbery happened between 10 and 11 a.m. at MyGeorgia Credit Union on Evans Street.

The suspect fled prior to the arrival of authorities.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation. Witnesses were interviewed and authorities spent much of the day Wednesday processing evidence.

McFaddin said earlier in the day that there would be heavy law enforcement presence in the area while the investigation is active.

 No injuries were reported.

Anyone who has any information, or can identify the suspect in the camera footage, is asked to contact the Banks County Sheriff's Office. The case officer is Lt. T. Scroggs who can be reached at 706-677-2248 or [email protected]

Anyone who recognizes the armed robbery suspect in the photo is asked to contact authorities.
