Car wash, storage facility on Thompson Bridge Rd. requests two additional weeks before decisive vote

GAINESVILLE - A rezoning request scheduled to be heard by the Hall County Commission on Thursday evening that will likely face strong opposition from area neighbors will now be considered for "tabling" instead.  "Tabling" is the term officials use to mean "delaying until a later date".

Hall County Director of Planning and Development, Sarah McQuade, told county commissioners at their work session Monday afternoon that she had just received an email from the attorney representing applicant D. Barrett Investment Properties, LLC, that his client wanted an extra two weeks before a decision on his application would be considered.  No specifics for the extension were given by McQuade as to the reason for the tabling request.

Plans to construct a car wash and self-storage facility on a 5.7-acre site along Thompson Bridge Road adjacent to Lanier Village Estates were recommended for denial by the Hall County Planning Commission last month as dozens of Lanier Village Estates residents voiced opposition to the plan as presented.

The rezoning application will now be considered by the Hall County Commission on July 22nd, at which time public comment will be taken.
