Two people were hospitalized early Saturday evening after a boat caught fire on Lake Lanier.

Division Chief Zach Brackett with Hall County Fire Services said the incident occurred in the area of Big Creek Park, and saw two adult individuals transported from the scene after sustaining burn-related injuries. The unnamed victims were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment.

Two juveniles were also on board the vessel at the time of the fire, but were unharmed. They were later transported back to their parents.

Shortly before 6 p.m., Brackett said that Hall County personnel were working to extinguish the fire. They were being assisted by first responders from Forsyth County, the Hall County Sheriff's Office, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal's Office, and more details are expected to be provided at a later time.
