One person was killed in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 85 in Gwinnett County Saturday afternoon.

Suwanee Police Lieutenant Robert Thompson said Richard Moore Hardison, age 36 of Duluth, was driving his motorcycle at high speed on I-85 Northbound near Exit 111 at Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road when he rear-ended an SUV and went over the wall into the southbound lanes, landing on top of a pickup truck. Hardison was pronounced dead at the scene.

The four passengers of the truck were taken to a nearby hospital with what Thompson described as non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV Hardison rear-ended was treated at the scene but not transported.

All lanes of I-85 Southbound and at least one northbound lane were shut down for several hours after the crash. All lanes were re-opened around 6:00 p.m.

Suwanee police are still investigating the crash. Anyone who witnessed the wreck is asked to contact Police Sergeant Simon Byun by calling 770-904-7650.
