Head-on collision in Gainesville leaves three injured

Posted 9:49PM on Thursday 10th June 2021 ( 2 years ago )

A head-on collision in Gainesville Thursday this evening injured three people and closed down Thompson Bridge Road in all directions. It is unclear if wet roads had anything to do with the crash.

Gainesville police said two SUVs, one full-size and one smaller, collided on Thompson Bridge Road, around 8:30 p.m. at High Vista Pointe, just south of the bridge crossing over Lake Lanier. Initial reports said that while it was a serious accident and three patients were injured, all were conscious and alert on the scene. Officers reported the driver of one of the vehicles had to be extricated. While an investigation has not yet revealed which vehicle lost control, there was some concern that standing water was reported on Thompson Bridge Road.

There has been no update on the condition of the injured patients.
