The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency closed the eight mass COVID-19 vaccination sites across the state on May 21, after administering 357,668 total doses of Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
The sites only began offering Johnson and Johnson single-dose vaccines in the final three weeks of operation, administering 2,731 doses. Pfizer vaccines were offered since the first sites opened on Feb. 22 and a total of 354,937 doses were administered.
“Our goals were to address the vaccination needs of underserved populations that were hardest hit by COVID-19 and jumpstart vaccinations statewide,” said GEMA/HS Director Chris Stallings. “We successfully achieved those goals with the tireless efforts of the entire GEMA/HS team, and local, state, federal and private partners.”
One of the mass vaccination sites was located in Toccoa at the Habersham County Fairgrounds.
