ORIGINAL STORY: Two people have died following a car accident in Commerce Friday night.

The Georgia State Patrol reports a 1971 Dodge Dart was driving north on US 441 when it attempted to turn left onto South Elm Street, towards Commerce. Troopers said the car failed to yield to a 2014 Dodge Journey van that was traveling southbound, resulting in the collision.

A witness also told investigators that the Dodge Dart didn't have right of way when turning left.

Two men inside the Dodge Dart, a 46 year old man from Lula and a 44 year old man from Danielsville, were taken to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, however troopers said neither survived their injuries. Troopers said seat belts were not used in their vehicle.

Troopers are also investigating if alcohol could have been a factor in the crash.

The driver of the van was identified as Alaina Sneed, 20, of Commerce. She was injured but declined transport to the hospital.
