Two women were arrested Monday in Forsyth County for kidnapping a 77-year-old woman.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said just before 2 p.m., the victim was walking to her car in the parking lot of the Goodwill located at 715 Atlanta Highway. She was then confronted by the two suspects, identified as  Cha-Rae Owens, 51, of Atlanta, and Sharon Sanford, 61, of Douglasville.

They threatened her and told the woman to get into their car. She obeyed, and they told her to withdraw $10,000 from her bank account and they would give her $45,000 in return.

When they arrived at the bank, the victim withdrew the money without alerting the bank teller because she was afraid that Owens and Sanford may harm her. The suspects took the money as well as her credit card number and information from her driver's license.

The two women dropped the 77-year-old off in the area of Merchant's Square and gave her an envelope with fake money inside. She quickly went into a nearby business and reported what had happened to her.

The victim provided deputies with a description of the suspects and the vehicle with a partial tag number.

The deputy was able to find the car driving southbound on Ga. 400. After initiating a traffic stop, the deputy charged Owens and Sanford with kidnapping, exploitation of the elderly, theft by deception, identity fraud/theft and forgery in the first degree.

Owens and Sanford were taken to the Forsyth County Jail, where they are held on no bond.

The victim's money was recovered and returned to her.

The investigation is ongoing, as evidence indicates the two may have been involved in additional crimes.

“Criminals don’t care who their victims are, just like FCSO doesn’t care what it takes to bring criminals to justice," Sheriff Ron Freeman said in the release. " If you target our most vulnerable, you can expect to end up just like these two suspects in Forsyth County Jail, likely without bond... It was indeed excellent police work yet again from our deputies."
