CEDARTOWN — The Class 4A second round baseball series between Flowery Branch and Cedartown has been postponed for a third consecutive day, according to Falcons coach Joey Ray.

The Falcons were supposed to open that series on Monday but rains the past two days pushed the start of the three-game series to Wednesday. However, Cedartown informed Flowery Branch late Wednesday morning that their field would not ready in time so moved it back to Thursday.

Ray said alternative sites were discussed but Cedartown did not want to move the series.

The doubleheader is now scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday in Cedartown. Game 3, if necessary, will be at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Austin Hatcher, Kaleb Freeman and the rest of the Flowery Branch baseball team was supposed to play their second round showdown with Cedartown on Wednesday in the Class 4A state playoffs. However, Cedartown postponed the series, again, until Thursday due to an unplayable field.
