A Dawson County man is facing drug  trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Forsyth County last week.

Todd Mooney, 38, faces charges of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of drug related objects, according to a press statement from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The statement said a deputy stopped a car on Matt Highway at Hendrix Road for a suspended registration. The deputy's suspicion of drugs in the vehicle led to a search.

During that search, a backpack was located in the rear passenger seat that contained a package of approximately one pound of methamphetamine, one gram of methamphetamine wrapped separately, a digital scale and numerous plastic baggies, according to the statement.

Mooney was a passenger in the vehicle. The driver was not arrested.

At last report, Mooney remains in the Forsyth County Jail without bond.
