Gainesville High School to hold traditional graduation

Posted 9:30PM on Monday 3rd May 2021 ( 2 years ago )

The class of 2021 at Gainesville High will have a traditional graduation ceremony later this month.

That announcement came from Principal Jamie Green at a Gainesville City School Board work session Monday night. He also told the board more details about the annual celebration at City Park, including what COVID-19 precautions will be enforced.

“Initially we sent down the message that we would be limiting tickets and the number could be four per family, but we felt, given current levels of community spread, we were able to increase that to six tickets per family,” said Green. “That puts us at about 65% to 70% capacity at City Park Stadium.”

Green said they would follow “airline” regulations, and any child under two would not count towards a ticket if they would be sitting in a lap.

Masks will also be required and social distancing will be enforced.
