FAYETTEVILLE — Chestatee got a stellar defensive effort in taking a 3-0 win over Fayette County on Friday in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The War Eagles (11-6) held Fayette County to just five shots on goal while the offense put on a barrage of 32 shots. However, only three found the net.

Jesse Nunez finally broke a scoreless draw in the 30th minute to give Chestatee a 1-0 lead. It stayed a tight contest until Eric Ortega netted a goal in the 72nd minute. JJ Granados sealed it with the final with just 6 seconds left in the match.

Chestatee moves on to play the Arabia Mountain-Southeast Whitfield winner next week in the second round.
