A single-vehicle crash in Gainesville has resulted in life-threatening injuries for the driver. According to Lieutenant Kevin Holbrook with the Gainesville Police Department, the accident occurred on Dawsonville Highway around 6:45 p.m. near the area of Bike Town.

The small passenger car lost control, flipped, and landed in a ditch. The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was trapped inside. He had to be extricated from the vehicle and he had serious injuries. Hall County Fire Services transported him to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Due to the seriousness of his physical condition, a police escort was provided for the ambulance so they could get him to the hospital as quickly as possible.

The victim’s name has not yet been released, but Sgt. Holbrook says it does appear alcohol/drugs were a contributing factor. The crash is under investigation, and depending on the findings, charges are pending.
