Hometown driver Pearson Lee Williams took home the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series Icebreaker 50 victory Saturday night at Patriots Park Raceway in Dublin, Georgia.
It marked was the first win for Williams with the series, and it came in the series’ first visit to the 3/8 mile dirt oval in several years.
Dalton Cook jumped to the early lead, with Sam Seawright in pursuit. AS the two worked lap traffic, Seawright moved to the lead with a pass on the outside.
Behind them, Williams worked his way to the front from his fifth place starting position. Following a pair of cautions, Williams moved to the lead as Seawright’s tires began to fade.
From there, Williams drove to his first career series victory. Cook followed in second, with Wil Herrington in third, Russell Brown in fourth and Payton Freeman in fifth.
Kenny Collins, Cla Knight, Ahnna Parkhurst, Jimmy Sharpe, Jr., and Seawright rounded out the top 10.
Up next for the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series is a trip to Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, Tennessee on Saturday, April 10. Visit SASDirt.com for more information.
