Tennis: Buford takes Region 8-6A title

BUFORD — The Buford girls and boys tennis teams are Region 8-6A champions.

The boys shut out Lanier, 3-0, and the girls blanked Dacula, 3-0, on Thursday at Buford City Park to earn the No. 1 seeds in the Class 6A state tournament.

No. 2 singles James Troutt and No. 1 doubles duo of Leyton Grothe and Nic Keller at 1 Doubles and the No. 2 tandem of Brent Sherman and Grayson Gilbert were the first three to complete matches and seal the win.  The Wolves await the fourth-place team from Region 5-6A for the first round of the State Playoffs 

On the girl's side, the Lady Wolves doubles teams put them on the board first with Taylor Ryczek Sophie Brewer winning in straight sets in the No. 2 match. The No. 1 pair of Kennedy Deloach and Kylie McCammon finished second to put Buford up 2-0. No. 3 singles Berkley Clark seal the title with a shutout win in straight sets. 

The Lady Wolves also await the fourth-place team from region 5-6A in the Class 6A state tournament later this month.
