Update, 4/28 4:56 p.m.:

The Hall County Sheriff's Office identified the victim of the fatal Atlanta Highway crash Tuesday as Grisel Alvarez Martinez, 64, of Oakwood. Investigators have notified next of kin.

Original story:

Detectives with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit are looking for witnesses who might have seen what happened when two vehicles collided on Atlanta Highway in South Hall County Tuesday, leaving one driver dead and the other injured.

The fatal crash, which occurred on Ga. 13/Atlanta Highway just south of Friendship Road, was reported around 2:30 p.m., according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth.

"The accident involved two vehicles - an SUV and a car - and it did claim the life of one of the drivers, who is a woman," Booth said.

The other driver - a man - was injured and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

At this point, investigators are not releasing the names of those involved.

A social media post Wednesday afternoon on the HCSO Facebook page made an appeal for witnesses to come forward. Investigators specifically want to talk to a man who was seen jogging southbound along Atlanta Highway at the time of the accident. Anyone who witnessed the crash or who knows the identity of the jogger should contact Sgt. J. Morgan at 770-718-2383.
