One person was killed in an early-morning pedestrian accident in the western area of Gainesville.
Lt. Kevin Holbrook with the Gainesville Police Department said the victim was an adult male, but he did not release the man's name.
"For unknown reasons the pedestrian was in the roadway, not in a crosswalk," Holbrook said in an email statement. "The driver stayed on scene and assisted with the investigation. At this time the investigation is ongoing, but charges are not likely."
Holbrook said the fatal accident happened around 6:15 a.m. on McEver Road near the intersection of Browns Bridge Road.
