Young Harris College to return to in-person classes

Posted 8:00AM on Sunday 28th March 2021 ( 3 years ago )

Young Harris College students will return to fully in-person learning for the Fall 2021 semester, following the advice of the Young Harris College Pandemic Recovery Task Force.

President Drew Van Horn made the announcement Friday.

“Positive cases of COVID-19 continue to fall in our area and among the members of the YHC community,” said Van Horn. “This, combined with increasing vaccine availability, makes us confident that we will be able to return to fully in-person classes on campus this fall.”

In the meantime, vaccine clinics began Thursday at the college in Young Harris. Synergy Health in Hiawassee offered the first of several COVID-19 vaccination clinics on campus.

The college will not be requiring students or employees to be vaccinated before returning this fall, unless required to do so by state or federal regulations, but all members of the campus community are strongly encouraged to get the vaccine if they are able to.

“This year has been exhausting for all of us,” said Van Horn, “but we appear to be turning a corner. I look forward to seeing everyone back in the Enchanted Valley this August.”
