Toccoa police recently arrested two people after a suspicious activity call at the Toccoa Library.

Nicole Ford and Justin Morgan were arrested March 4 after being detained by officers at the library. Ford, who was the subject of an outstanding Toccoa P.D. Narcotics warrant for possession of methamphetamine, had meth in her purse at the time of her arrest, so she received another charge of possession of methamphetamine, said Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize.

Morgan possessed a box of drugs and items on his person and was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Narcotics investigators have been busy with cases in the past couple of weeks.

On March 1, an anonymous tip from a citizen led to a welfare check of a suspicious person sitting in a vehicle at the end of Queen Street

The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Christopher Duck for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance, Mize said.

On Feb. 25, Toccoa police narcotics and officers from the Georgia Office of Community Supervision went to 124 Stephens Drive regarding information received from another jurisdiction.

A search of the home led to the arrest of Paula Pope for possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute, Mize said.

That case remains active and other arrests are expected, Mize said.
