COMMERCE — It was a nailbiter from the opening toss-in until the end.

The Commerce girls (19-10, Region 8-A No. 2 seed) have been living on the edge since the beginning of the Class A Public tournament, and Wednesday night was no different as the Lady Tigers rallied past Turner County, 55-47, in front of a packed house at home.

Bryanna Sanders scored 17 points and Carson Hobbs had 15 to lead Commerce into the Class A Public semifinals for the first time since 1989. Maggie Mullis chipped in 10 points to help in the winning effort.

It was tied after the first eight minutes and 24-24 at halftime. After a back-and-forth third quarter, Turner County had a slim two-point advantage, 34-32. It wasn't until the final period that the Lady Tigers found a way to go in front and stay there to clinch the victory.

Commerce will travel to Region 1-A No. 1 seed Calhoun County on either Friday or Saturday. Time and day will be released later this week.
