A suspect was arrested and an investigation is underway after a man and a woman were found dead Tuesday morning in Barrow County.
According to a press release from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, deputies first received a call around 1:26 a.m. about suspicious people standing around a residence wearing masks. When the deputies arrived at the location near Ga.82 in the eastern part of the county, dispatch advised them that there was a deceased female in a vehicle about 100 yards from the deputies. Deputies were able to locate the vehicle and found the female inside.
The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division arrived, and the scene was turned over to them. Later, the Winder Police Department advised Barrow County Investigators that there was another body located up the road from the initial scene.
According to the AJC, Sheriff Jud Smith says the shooting may have been an act of self-defense.
One suspect was arrested and was being detained at the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center as of Wednesday morning.
Both deceased individuals are related to the same incident, according to the release. The female and male are both in their late teens to early 20’s.
The release states information about the victims is not being released at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
