Gainesville City Schools employees to be vaccinated next week

Posted 6:21PM on Monday 1st March 2021 ( 3 years ago )

Gainesville City Schools employees will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine next week at a clinic hosted by the school and District 2 Public Health.

That announcement came Monday evening during the school board's work session. The one shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available.

Pre-K through Grade 12 teachers and staff, including substitutes and student teachers, will be able to get the shot the morning of Friday, March 12. While the clinic is dependent on the vaccine supply being available, Superintendent Jeremy Williams said they chose that day to allow for additional days in case of reaction. That Friday will be a teacher work day.

Eight school nurses will administer the vaccines at the clinic at Gainesville Middle School.
