East Hall shooting ruled double murder, attempted suicide

A fatal Wednesday afternoon shooting in East Hall County has been ruled a double murder and attempted suicide, according to authorities.

According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the two victims in the shooting are 50-year-old Anne Marie Wilson and 20-year-old Lauren Wilson, both of Gainesville.

The mother and daughter lived in the residence on Broome Road where the incident occurred, according to the release. Sheriff’s Office Detectives have notified their family.

The gunman, 26-year-old Shamiek Johnson of Buford is accused of shooting both women with a handgun, and then shooting himself, according to the release.

Johnson was transported by Hall County Fire Services for treatment of serious injuries. Johnson remained in critical condition as of Thursday morning.

The release states investigators believe the incident was domestic-related. Johnson and Lauren Wilson had a child together.

A family member checking on Anne Marie Wilson and Lauren Wilson discovered the incident inside of the home and called 911. Deputies responded to the home around 3:20 p.m.

The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
