Baseball: White County rallies to beat East Hall

CLEVELAND — White County battled back from an early deficit to beat East Hall 5-4 in eight innings on Friday at Warriors Field.

The Warriors got the winning run in the eighth when J. Ben Haynes was hit by a pitch with one out and eventually came around to score on a pair of East Hall errors.

Bailee Patterson got the victory for White County allowing just two hits and one run while striking out five in four innings of relief.

East Hall took a 3-0 lead in the third on a RBI double from Luke England and a two-out, two-run single from Alex Brock.

White County got a run back in the fourth on a Caleb Gee RBI single and tied it in the fifth on a RBI groundout from Evan Chambers and a RBI single from Rylee Higgins.

Both teams scored a run in the seventh setting up the thrilling finish in the eighth.

England took the loss for East Hall allowing one run in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Carter Gillespie started for the Vikings surrendering two runs on four hits in four innings.

Blake Kelley started the game for White County giving up three runs on five hits over four innings.

England went 3-for-4 at the plate while Mikey Parker had two hits for East Hall.

Haynes, Jake Johnson, and Higgins all had two hits for the Warriors.
