3 arrested in meth, firearms bust in Jackson, Banks counties

Three people were arrested last Friday during the course of a methamphetamine trafficking investigation.

Three search warrants were executed by the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office in Jackson and Banks Counties last Friday following a five month investigation period.

Johnny Strickland, 58, was arrested at 24 Jarrett Rd, Nicholson; Linda Cowart, 55, was arrested at 336 J S Williamson Ct, Nicholson; and Pamela Venable, 52, was arrested at 400 McClure Rd, Gillsville. ARDEO said in a press release Strickland and Cowart were taken to the Jackson County Jail, while Venable was taken to the Banks County Jail.

Strickland and Cowart were both charged with possession of meth with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Strickland also faces two counts of possession of Schedule I or II prescription pills with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana, less than one ounce. 

Venable faces a theft by receiving stolen property (firearms) charge.

The investigation in ongoing, according to ARDEO, and the Jackson County and Banks County Sheriffs' Offices are assisting.
