No. 12 Women's Basketball Takes Down Augusta, 70-57

DAHLONEGA — Despite a furious comeback attempt, the No. 12 University of North Georgia women's basketball team turned away Augusta Monday night, 70-57, inside the UNG Convocation Center.

North Georgia stormed out to a 27-8 lead after the first quarter after hitting 6-of-7 shots from distance in the period. The Nighthawk lead got out to as many as 22 points before Augusta starting inching back.

The Jaguars pulled the game to within nine twice in the second half, but each time, UNG responded with a big run to extend the lead back out to double figures.

NOTES
- With her second made 3-pointer of the night, Abbie Franklin surpassed Molly Rainwater for career threes made in the NCAA-era. At 207 made, the senior is 48 behind Brandy Bray for the all-time record. Franklin also pulled down her 500th career rebound with her seventh and final rebound of the night.

- Four Nighthawks finished in double figures, led by Josie Earnhardt, who came off the bench to net 19 points on 6-of-11 from downtown. Caroline Martin had 15, Julianne Sutton put up 13 and Franklin added 12.

- The Jaguars had a +10 advantage on the offensive glass that turned into 15-second chance points.

NEXT UP
North Georgia will head to Georgia Southwestern on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. tipoff.

Josie Earnhardt, who came off the bench, led the Nighthawks with 19 points on 6-of-11 from downtown.
