Girls tennis: GHS holds on to beat Bluff; Banks County drops Johnson

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Gainesville girls beat Cherokee Bluff, 3-2, on the road Wednesday.

Callie Patterson, No. 2 singles, scored six aces in a straight-set win, 6-4, 6-2. Lilly Winston clinched the No. 3 singles match in a tiebreaker, 14-12, after splitting the first two sets. GHS opened their season with a huge win over Cherokee Bluff!  It was a beautiful night to play at CB-

Madeline Gruhn and Kate Abernathy sealed the team win for the Red Elephants in No. 2 doubles action with a tiebreaker in the third set. 

Gainesville plays host to Forsyth Central at Longwood Park on Thursday.

The Lady Leopards rolled past Johnson on the road Thursday. 

Chloe Smith won in straight sets in the No. 1 singles match, while Jaden Hoard captured the No. 2 singles battle, 7-5, 6-1. 

Aspen Daris and Amber Most beat Johnson's Melia Glover and Sophia Chica, 6-1, 6-1, in No. 1 doubles to seal the team win. Channing Boswell and Abbey Bonds won, 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 doubles play
