GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville boys soccer team used a big first half to take the lead and then held on in the second half for a 3-2 win over Meadowcreek on Friday night at City Park Stadium.
Noe Vasquez scored twice and Endy Alarcon once as the Red Elephants (2-0) built a 3-0 lead. Meadowcreek got a late goal just before half added a second with less than 10 minutes left.
Gainesville had a chance to put the game out of reach with just four minutes left but missed a penalty kick. The Red Elephants held off a furious MUstangs charge at the end.

The Gainesville girls soccer team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 3-1 victory over Meadowcreek at City Park Stadium Friday night.
Amaya Lukey had two goals and an assist and Jaelyn Rivera had a goal and an assist for the Lady Red Elephants.
Araceli Bonilla also had an assist for Gainesville.
Gainesville next will travel to Habersham Central on Tuesday.
