OAKWOOD — The Johnson boys tennis team won all but one match to beat West Hall on Thursday, 4-1.
Vu Nguyen earned the Spartans lone win, 8-5, over Adrian Blankenship, then forfeited the next two matches, giving the Knights' Leandro Cupps and Allan Garcia the singles win.
In doubles, Levi McBride and Sebastian Perez defeated Davis Pritchard and Brayden Blum, 8-2, while Johan Vargas and Jesus Valles captured the win, 8-3, against Wesley LeCroy and Christophe Morris.
In Buford, the Lady Wolves shut out Mill Creek, 5-0, while the boys won 4-1.
On the girl's side, Callie Perkins won the first set and needed a tiebreaker to win the second in No. 1 singles. Kylie McCammon, No. 2 singles, rallied from losing her first set, 6-2, to win the second 6-0 and take the tiebreaker 10-2. In No. 3 singles, Tedra Ibegulam won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.
On the doubles side, Kennedy Deloach and Sophie Brewer won in straight sets in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 7-5, while Tayler Ryzcek and Issy Brewer captured the No. 2 singles match in straight sets as well, 6-1, 6-3.
In boy's singles, Dean Kingsley lost his first set, 6-2, but won the second, and the tiebreaker, 6-2 (10-4) to secure the win in No. 1 singles. James Troutt, No. 2, won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, as did Matthew Maurer, No. 3, 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles, Leyton Grothe and Nic Keller lost the first, 6-4, but won the second set, 6-1 (10-5) with the tiebreaker. Luke Clark and Grayson Gilbert lost, 6-3, 6-0.
