Lakeview boys and girls headlined the tournament with two huge upsets in the opening round on Tuesday at Lakeview Academy.
The Lady Lions held on to knock off No. 2 seed, East Hall, 58-52, and the Lions shocked Chestatee with a 64-63 victory to advance to the semifinals. The Lady Lions will play Flowery Branch at 3 p.m.
North Hall avenged the early season loss to Cherokee Bluff in a 42-37 win to advance to the semifinals in the girls bracket, while the East Hall boys rolled past North Hall, 64-50, to advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2018.
In the nightcaps, the Gainesville girls cruised past Johnson, 55-30, and the Gainesville boys' defense smothered Flowery Branch in a 60-36 win. The Lady Red Elephants will get North Hall in the semifinals at 6 p.m., while the Red Elephants will take on Lakeview at 7:30 p.m.
The East Hall girls beat Chestatee in the opening game on Day 2 in the consolation round.
