Boys basketball: North Hall, Rabun take wins

BLAIRSVILLE — North Hall used a 20-6 run to open the game and held on for a 58-50 win over Union County on Tuesday on the road.

The Trojans (9-2) pushed their lead to 34-20 by halftime and extnded it to 48-29 heading into the fourth quarter. Union County (5-8) staged a furious fourth quarter rally but could not get closer than the final score.

Robert Terry led North Hall with 16 points. Andrew Bales had 12 points for th Trojans.

Union County was paced by Austin Taylor with 14 points. Jude Ellis chippd in with 10 points for th Panthers.

The Class 2A ninth-ranked Wildcats won their eighth straight game using a huge first half.

Rabun County (10-4) jumped out to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter and led 35-20 at halftime. The Wildcats blew it open with a 19-10 third quarter and a 54-30 lead.

Gus Hood paced Rabun with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Connor McKay added 15 points, 6 rebouds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks and Cooper Welch had 8 point, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists for th Wildcats.

Commerce fell to 4-5 on the season with the loss.
