A Gainesville man reportedly tried to run over two Hall County Sheriff's Office deputies as they attempted to arrest him on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault.

Stacey Lamar Willis, 56, had been wanted for felony aggravated assault for an incident that occurred in November 2021.

On Monday, Dec. 20, two deputies tried to serve Willis with the arrest warrant at a location on Garden Road. Instead of immediately surrendering, Willis first drove his vehicle toward the deputies in an attempt to run over them.

Information released by the sheriff's office said neither officer was injured, and they were able to arrest Willis at the scene.

At last check, Willis remained in the Hall County Jail charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault on a peace officer and obstruction of officers during a criminal investigation.
