Basketball: 8-5A, 8-4A open region play; 7-3A, 6-7A offer key matchups

Regions 8-5A and 8-4A will get their road to the playoffs going opening region play on Friday.

In Region 8-4A, Chestatee travels to Flowery Branch and East Hall heads to Cedar Shoals in showdowns that could tell a lot about the rest of the season on both the boys and girls sides.

Meanwhile, Region 7-3A, which saw some interesting outcomes on Tuesday to open its schedule, continues full-bore as well. Cherokee Bluff travels to East Forsyth while West Hall plays host to North Hall. Lumpkin County and Dawson will renew their rivalry in Dawsonville.

Gainesville will play host to Denmark and North Forsyth travels to West Forsyth in Region 6-7A action.
