CLEVELAND — Using a suffocating defense in the second half, the Lanier Christian Academy girls rallied from a huge first half deficit to beat White Creek Christian 29-24 on Monday on the road.
The Lady Lightning (2-7) trailed 20-9 at the half but held White Creek to no points in the third quarter while they began the comeback. Senior Ashley Avery hit a pair of 3-pointers to spark the defense and finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocked shots to pace LCA.
Adelyn Gough, Hannah Adams, and Moriah Clark combined to hold White Creek's leading scorer to just 6 points on the night.
Free throws played a part as freshman Ellie Roberts drilled five down the stretch in the fourth quarter. Roberts eventually finished with 9 points and 4 rebounds.
Junior Camille Hoffman had a huge defensive night as she controlled the boards with 14 rebounds fo LCA.
