Several Forsyth County residents received scam phone calls on Friday, according to a social media post from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office said in each case the caller claimed to be a deputy and demanded money from the potential victims, claiming the residents had missed jury duty. The residents were instructed to place the money in a drop box at the jail.
"FCSO wants to ensure citizens no one from the Sheriff's Office will call and demand money," the Facebook post said. "If you receive a call like this, write down the name used, phone number and any other details and hang up."
FCSO said anyone who receives such a call should report it to law enforcement.
