TIGER, Ga. — Before Friday night's second-round matchup with Class 2A's top-ranked team, Jeff Davis had only allowed 54 points all season.
After Friday night, Rabun County matched those points, plus two more, in a 56-7 rout of Jeff Davis (10-2, Region 2-2A No. 2 seed) in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs at Frank Synder Stadium.
Georgia-commit Gunner Stockton was near perfect on the night connecting 22 times on 24 attempts for 468 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 60 yards on three carries and three scores.
Jaden Gibson was Stockton's top target, hauling in eight passes, three of which went for 49 yards or more, for 233 yards and four touchdowns.
The Wildcats (11-1, Region 8-2A No. 1 seed) were well in control after the first quarter, leading 21-0 thanks to a 10-yard and 13-yard run by Stockton and a 66-yard touchdown pass from Stockton to Gibson.
Stockton and Gibson continued the scoring onslaught combining for three more scores in the second quarter. Stockton rushed in from three yards out and hit Gibson on a 68-yard strike to Gibson and a seven-yard pass to Gibson.
Lang Windham found the endzone with 7:43 to go in the third quarter on a seven-yard rush, and Gibson caught a 49-yard touchdown pass from Gibson with nine minutes left in the final period.
Jeff Davis scored its only touchdown on a seven-yard touchdown to CJ Parker late in the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats will make the five-hour trip to Thomasville in the quarterfinals of the Class 2A tournament next week.
