Following an investigation that last more than five months, two people have been arrested in connection with the death of a baby in Forsyth County.
"On June 2, 2021 we responded to a home on Ashley Drive in reference to an unresponsive infant," said Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Stacie Miller in an email statement. "The mother, Caitlyn Swinks reported to have fed the six-week old male and put him in between her and the father, Nathaniel Gravley, on the bed. They fell back asleep and woke to find the baby lying on his side unresponsive."
As part of the investigation, detectives executed a search warrant on the home and found heroin, drug paraphernalia and some prescription medications. All of the items were seized as evidence.
"A search warrant was also obtained and executed for Swinks’ and Gravely’ s blood to be sent for toxicology testing," Miller said.
Swinks and Gravely were arrested on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 in connection with the baby's death.
Both suspects were charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct, two counts of cruelty to children in the second degree, possession of methamphetamine and possession of heroin. Swinks was also charged with possession of Diazepam.
