Funeral arrangements have been made for the Jackson County Sheriff's deputy that was shot in a domestic dispute last Friday night in Hoschton.
The funeral for officer Lena Marshall will be held Monday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at Free Chapel Church in Braselton.
The Jackson County’s Sheriff’s Office will lead the processional starting at the Sheriff’s Office at noon. The processional will proceed through Jefferson en route to Free Chapel.
Lena Marshall’s body will be carried by horse drawn carriage from Memorial Park Funeral Home to Free Chapel, thanks to the North Carolina Caisson Unit.
Memorial Park Funeral Home in Braselton is in charge of the arrangements.
Update Monday, Nov. 8: The Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy who was wounded while responding to a domestic disturbance Friday night died as a result of her injuries late Monday afternoon.
Deputy Lena Marshall was originally said to be in critical condition following Friday's shooting incident. A social media post made by Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum said Marshall passed away three days after being hospitalized.
"As Sheriff, and on behalf of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, it is with a heavy heart that I advise you all that we lost Deputy Lena Marshall around 3:50 pm today," Mangum said. "Once arrangements have been made, we will provide that information. Please respect the privacy of Deputy Marshall's family at this difficult time."
Hours before Marshall's death, Mangum spoke with AccessWDUN to discuss how Marshall's fellow officers were handling the fallout of Friday's shooting, and described Marshall as "an asset " to the Sheriff's Office.
"She had over 10 years of law enforcement experience. A very good deputy, [she] knew what to do, did her job, and just was an asset to our office," Mangum said. "She was a good deputy, she was a hard-working deputy. She would get in there, just like the men, and she did her job. She did a good job serving Jackson County."
Funeral arrangements are pending at the time of publication, and will be published as soon as they are made available.

Original Article: Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office are keeping vigil at the hospital where fellow deputy Lena Marshall remains hospitalized in critical condition following a shooting at a Hoschton residence Friday night.
Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum said in a phone interview from the hospital that she and her staff are on standby for anything Marshall's family might need.
"I have been here most of the time and we've had deputies here around the clock. Sometimes there may be one of us, but most of the time there's many of us," Mangum said. "Of course, everybody is heartbroken and hurting...we're just trying to keep somebody here to be here for this family and whatever they may need."
Marshall and another deputy were fired upon Friday night when they answered a 911 call to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Ga. Highway 124 in Hoschton. A woman identified by the GBI as Jessica Worsham came to the door of the residence with a weapon. The deputies ordered her to drop the gun, but instead, she opened fire, striking Marshall. The second deputy shot and killed Worsham, according to the GBI.
Mangum said the family has asked for as much privacy as possible, so she did not discuss where Marshall was hospitalized, nor did she give details of Marshall's injuries.
"I had many calls from many news agencies [over the weekend], but the family had asked that we not release her name right away," Mangum said, noting that she respected the family's wishes and did not confirm Marshall's name until the family felt comfortable doing so. On Monday morning, Mangum released the deputy's name and announced a benefit account had been established for Marshall's children at Northeast Georgia Bank in Jefferson.
Marshall, who has worked with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office for about two years, also has worked with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office and with the Winder Police Department, according to Mangum. She said Marshall has more than a decade of law enforcement experience.
"[She's] a very good deputy, knows what to do and always did her job and is an asset to our office," Mangum said.
Mangum said the deputy who returned fire, killing Worsham, is doing okay; she and his supervisors are keeping in close contact with him. She said she's concerned not only about that deputy, but about the well-being of her entire staff.
"I had some chaplains come in for all my staff, especially the shift that was working that night," Mangum said, adding that she hopes the community will keep not only the Marshall family - but her entire department - in their prayers.
"I just hope people will pray for my sheriff's office [and] my deputies because they're out there every day running to that danger, not running away from it," Mangum said. "Pray for strength, wisdom and guidance for all of them, that they can continue to do their job. I told them that we've got to carry on that job that Lena was carrying while she's not able to be with us."
